Wastewater Treatment Plant

Wastewater Treatment Plant

Sewage that begins in your home or business eventually flows into a wastewater treatment plant. At the wastewater treatment plant, the wastewater is treated through various steps to remove solids and other contaminants until it has reached an environmentally safe level to be suitable for disposal or reuse. The treated wastewater that is not reclaimed is piped into the Gunnison River.   The wastewater meets or exceeds stringent state and federal water quality standards in order for it to be compatible with the aquatic environment.

The City of Gunnison Wastewater Treatment Plant serves all residential and commercial customers from within City limits and County customers from North Valley, Dos Rios, and Antelope Hills. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located at 524 County Road 32, click here for directions. The phone number is 970-641-8040.

The plant treats over 452,000,000 gallons of wastewater annually and produces approximately 203 dry tons of Gunnison Gold compost per year.
