The Gunnison Municipal Court is located upstairs in the Municipal Building, in the City Council Chambers at 201 West Virginia Avenue. Gunnison Municipal Court operates under Judge James R. McDonald and the Municipal Court Administrator.
Municipal Court Staff
The Court Administrator is available in-person Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM on the first floor of the Municipal Building via the Virginia Avenue entrance. You may also call during business hours at 970.641.8170.
Municipal, or City Court, meets approximately twice a month on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 PM in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building at 201 West Virginia Avenue in Gunnison. Arraignments are heard first followed by pre-scheduled trials to the court. Jury trials are scheduled as needed.
Municipal Court proceedings are open to the public. Remote observation of proceedings is permitted via Zoom (click here to register).
Individuals appearing in Court for Municipal citations are also permitted to attend arraignments remotely in certain circumstances. A written request, submitted via email to the Court Administrator at email@example.com, is required.
