Public Records

Except for law enforcement records, all records requests must be made through the City Clerk's Office using the official Public Records Request Form.

*Requests for law enforcement records must be submitted directly to the Police Department; that records request form can be obtained via the Police Department Records Office.

Colorado State Statutes allow three (3) working days for a search of the records. Per the State of Colorado Open Records Act (C.R.S. 24-72-203), if the request is substantially large, an extension of seven (7) working days is permitted. You will be notified prior to the three (3) working days of any extension and all estimated costs.

Gunnison is a small mountain community on the western slope of Colorado with a population of approximately 6,560 full time residents. The population increases annually with the influx of tourism and Western Colorado University students numbering an additional 2,500. The City of Gunnison is the county seat for Gunnison County. Gunnison has a rich history of ranching, agriculture, mining, tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities that bring many more people through the community.
