Planning and Zoning Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission perform the duties described in Section 3.19 of the Gunnison City Charter, pertinent provisions of Section 31-23-307, Title 31, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, as amended, and the City of Gunnison Land Development Code. The Commission reviews land development applications, such as conditional uses, subdivisions, text amendments, etc., to ensure compliance with all provisions of the Land Development Code. The Commission is responsible for preparing the City of Gunnison Comprehensive Plan and other development documents.

Regular meetings are held the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in the Council Chambers, second floor of the Municipal Building. Minutes are posted after approval following the next regular meeting.  For agendas, packets, and minutes not listed, contact the Planning Staff.

The Commission members may be contacted through the Community Development Office. The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. Members must be qualified taxpaying electors, residents of the city, and may not hold paid office or positions within the City administration.  Members are appointed by City Council to serve five year terms.

Welcome to Gunnison

Gunnison is a small mountain community on the western slope of Colorado with a population of approximately 6,560 full time residents. The population increases annually with the influx of tourism and Western Colorado University students numbering an additional 2,500. The City of Gunnison is the county seat for Gunnison County. Gunnison has a rich history of ranching, agriculture, mining, tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities that bring many more people through the community.
