Curbside recycling collection and special refuse collection pickups will be suspended immediately due to COVID19 health risks and exposure to employees. The safety of public works employees is important and solid waste management employees are specifically classified as having high exposure risks per OSHA and the Code of Federal Regulations. Conditions will be re-evaluated regularly to determine if the risk to the employees can be mitigated while providing this service.
During this suspension, please take your recycling to the Gunnison County Recycling Center (195 Basin Park Drive) or place it in your garbage for your regularly scheduled collection. Do not stockpile recycling, as we do not know how long this service will be suspended. We apologize for this inconvenience and are taking these precautions to protect the health and well-being of our community as well as our employees.
We will continue to empty residential trash cans and commercial dumpsters with our hands-free refuse truck on your normally scheduled pickup day. We will not be doing any special refuse pick-ups which require employees to touch or handle items.
Any questions or concerns can be emailed to PublicWorks@gunnisonco.gov
