The Gunnison Police Department believes citizens should live in a safe, crime free community. In partnership with citizens, the process of crime prevention education, coupled with action can result in all of us living in a safer community. The Gunnison Police Department encourages the community to increase their efforts in crime prevention. We ask you to take advantage of the services your local law enforcement agencies have to offer and read through a sample of the resources available from the National Crime Prevention Council:

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are committed to protecting the public and ensuring the rights of victims are carefully observed. HSI would like to inform the public about their Victim Notification Program – the following hyperlink can connect a crime victim or witness to this valuable program that serves to notify victims with reliable and timely information pertaining to a criminal alien’s release from custody – victims and witnesses can register for this program HERE.  

Welcome to Gunnison

Gunnison is a small mountain community on the western slope of Colorado with a population of approximately 6,560 full time residents. The population increases annually with the influx of tourism and Western Colorado University students numbering an additional 2,500. The City of Gunnison is the county seat for Gunnison County. Gunnison has a rich history of ranching, agriculture, mining, tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities that bring many more people through the community.
